About Dr. Kang

Dr. Kang is the founding partner and owner of Selah Women’s Health. She moved to Redding in 2013 with her husband and four young children, excited to care for the women of the North State area. Prior to this, Dr. Kang served as an obstetrician-gynecologist for 3 years in the Navajo Nation Indian Health Service, where she received multiple awards for innovative clinical care and high patient satisfaction. While there, she developed further expertise in the management of high-risk pregnancy, serving as Medical Director for the Diabetes in Pregnancy Program. She continues to enjoy the privilege of partnering with women in their pregnancy and birth experience.

She is also experienced in minimally-invasive surgery, giving women surgical options for treatment that reduce their recovery time significantly. Her other professional interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and social justice issues for women and children. Her strong desire to see full health restored to individuals, families, and communities is one of the driving forces behind the expansion of programs at Selah, including the development of our non-profit organization, Selah Health International, that serves our community and communities abroad through programs such as MotherGold and MotherFree.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, hiking, and music. Both her professional and personal experiences contribute to her unique family-centered and culturally-honoring approach to women’s healthcare. About Amanda

Amanda Alexander is a women’s health Nurse Practitioner whose expertise in women’s health began as an RN caring for women and their babies on the Labor and Delivery unit. She also continues to work as a labor nurse when she is not working at Selah. She is a brilliant advocate for her patients, known for the generosity with which she gives her time, her empathy, and her diligent energy.

She was raised in Shasta County from age 7 and left the county only briefly to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in nursing at Chico State. Upon her graduation, she was eager to return to the pleasures the North State offers. She enjoys sunny weekends at Lake Shasta, hiking and hunting, and family time with her husband of 14 years and two wonderful children. She is known fondly as “Hunter Barbie” who somehow manages to fuse her mystical femininity with a fearsome skill in crossbow hunting. Her exploits of tracking and packing big game out of the backcountry are legendary.

She obtained her WHNP from the University of South Alabama while training as a provider with Dr. Kang at Selah. Her natural ease with patients and staff made her highly sought after when she graduated, but it was the family of staff and patients at Selah that won her commitment. Amanda always brings her full self to serve our patients, a personality rich in compassion, acute perception, and wit.
